It was a pleasure to read The Conversation That Never Ends by Manivannan Nandagopalan—a thoughtfully narrated book that explores the future of insurance through a conversation between two fictional characters: Jim, a retired insurance executive, and Arjun, his former intern.
Their exchange brings experience and fresh thinking together, making topics such as agentic AI, embedded insurance, climate intelligence, and digital transformation accessible and relevant.
Three ideas particularly stayed with me:
• AI is moving from analysis to action. Specialized agents could increasingly coordinate tasks and work alongside human teams, making clear objectives essential.
• Insurance remains a business of people. Better tools matter when they help people achieve better outcomes.
• Learning may become the ultimate competitive advantage. Organizations that learn faster and adapt thoughtfully will be better equipped for change.
The book’s reference to Arjuna focusing on the target offers a memorable reminder: amid technological excitement, clarity of purpose matters.
What I appreciated most was the relationship between Jim and Arjun. Their conversation shows how mentorship can become mutual learning, with experience and new perspectives enriching each other.
My lasting takeaway: relevance is something we earn continuously through curiosity, learning, and adaptation.
A worthwhile read for insurance professionals—and anyone interested in how people grow through change.
